String Quartet Wedding Music

Having performed at numerous weddings over the last decade, String Quartets Live have the experience to provide the music for such an important event. We understand that this is your special day, and that string quartet wedding music should provide the finishing touch to what should be a truly wonderful occasion.                     

Our uniquely extensive repertoire stretches from Vivaldi to the Verve. from Bach to the Beatles. An all-classical performance is popular, as is a repertoire of popular and easy listening music. A mixture of various styles, from Opera, Jazz, Musicals to Movie Theme Tunes - plus recent hits, is also available. We're sure you'll want to find that special request to make your wedding truly personal. In the unlikely event that your favourite selection is not on our playlist, we can arrange for our players to perform it especially for you.

If you require our quartet to play for your ceremony, we'll give you expert advice on the music to be played as your guests arrive, during the bride’s entrance, the signing of the register and the recessional. If you've opted for a traditional church wedding, we can easily accompany any hymns you may have chosen.

Our players perform at many of the major UK wedding venues, including prestigious hotels, famous castles, cathedrals and churches - as well as a considerable number of stately homes. We're equally at ease playing in more conventional and homely surroundings. Subject to certain requirements, we can also play in outdoor locations - weather permitting!

We offer different packages to suit all requirements and budgets. The ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast, can all be enhanced with timeless instrumental music. String Quartets Live have the experience to create the desired atmosphere that you and your guests deserve. We play at indoor and outdoor events throughout the UK and Ireland  and unlike some ensembles our travelling charges are very modest. 

Organising your special day can be a stressful experience and we hope that our client-friendly approach and familiarity with the order of events at weddings will help to make your day more relaxing. Music can be played at any point during a wedding, however you may find the following a useful guide to help you plan your day more effectively.

Civil Ceremonies and Church Weddings:

Want to relax your guests as they arrive for your wedding? A great way to do this is to have soothing classical instrumental music prior to the bridal entrance. We find that 15 minutes of tasteful stringed music whilst guests are coming into the church or venue, will create a great atmosphere. Want 20 or 30 minutes of 'entrance music'?  The choice is entirely yours.

You can also enhance your ceremony with music at:

• The Signing of the Register.
  
• Communion, after the Blessing, or in lieu of a hymn (during a religious ceremony).
  
• Recessional music, as the guests leave the ceremony.
  
  

String Quartets Live regularly are asked to accompany other performers during a wedding ceremony or hymns during a church service. We are more than happy to do this as long as we are given the music in advance and are provided with enough time to arrange the parts. We have recently accompanied flautists, harpists, trumpeters and many soloists and vocalists.

Photographs and Reception Drinks:

Unlike other musical ensembles, a string quartet is portable and can change location with ease. We are skilled at moving from one room to another and can easily relocate to where the reception venue is being held after a civil or religious ceremony. We are happy to play outdoors - weather permitting. However, on sunny days or during unsettled weather we require a shelter or shaded area so as to protect our instruments and our players.

Receiving Line:

What about instrumental music whilst the wedding party are in the 'receiving line up'? Receiving line ups can be quite lengthy so if you're considering this, remember to work out the overall amount of time you'll need when it comes to booking your quartet.

During the Meal / Wedding Breakfast:

Music played during the course of your wedding dinner can be a great accompaniment to fine food. The length of time you want your string quartet to play during the early part of the reception is totally up to you. However, from experience we've discovered that the cutting of the cake is often a good place for the classical music to stop and for your guests to prepare themselves for the speeches and the evening reception that follows.
